Kafka's Last Trial
Feature Documentary — 2025 — KAN 11
Role: Art Director & Animation Director
Kafka died asking Max Brod to burn his manuscripts. Brod refused, and that decision became a long fight over who owns Kafka's words. The film follows the papers from Kafka's tiny room in Prague to safes, apartments, archives, and finally a Tel Aviv courtroom.
Visually, the film lives in two worlds. Kafka is a 3D figure inside a small, moody room that feels tight and airless. Everything outside - witnesses, courtrooms, boxes of pages - is hand-cut paper animation, like a fragile memory stage. Dark tones and small surreal touches echo his writing, and the clash between the solid 3D room and flimsy paper world gives the story its Kafkaesque tone.
