Cinema Rex
Animated Short — 2020
Role: Compositor, VFX
An animated short about a friendship between a Jewish boy and an Arab girl in 1920s Jerusalem, centered on Cinema Rex. As compositor, I helped turn hand drawn art into a unified film.
I combined layers from painters, animators, and colorists into one living world through compositing, color grading, light effects, and a few 3D touches. The hardest shot was a long pullback of the kids biking through a crowded market, painted at huge resolution and finished at 4K with tracked 3D bikes and layered atmosphere. My aim was to keep the charm of the line work while adding depth and a bit of cinematic scale.
